About Las Vegas Wetlands & Nature Preserve

Generally, wetlands are lands that are predominantly saturated with water to the extent that they sufficiently support vegetation typically adapted to saturated soil conditions.  A nature reserve is an area of land that is protected and managed in order to preserve a particular habitat.  And that’s what you’ll experience at Las Vegas’ wetlands and nature preserve.  That’s if you can find it.

Possibly the most unique aspect about this particular land set aside is that it’s located on the edge of a bustling city, yet you wouldn’t know it once you hit the cemented trail.

The walk around Las Vegas Wetlands and Nature Preserve trail is just under 2 miles. I’ve taken this stroll midday summer several times and enjoy the solitude. Seems I’m the only one willing to sweat it round. Course I do this mid-week as well. Not sure how busy it is on the weekends.

If you come up with a couple of extra hours while in Las Vegas, head east on Tropicana until it ends. The wetlands and nature preserve is right in front of you.  Here’s a Map
